Accommodation

We are offering two options at different price points for guests. Both options are located on the UMN campus, and a short walk to the Campus Club where the conference will be held:

1. Campus Housing

Campus housing will be provided in Yudof Hall, which is an apartment style hall. The apartment is a private bedroom, with a shared bathroom with 1 other participant and has a small kitchenette and washer and dryer. The cost is $63 per night, plus tax. Please check back for a link to book dorm housing.

2. Graduate by Hilton Minneapolis (book here)

Traditional hotel rooms are available at a discounted conference rate of $180/night plus tax at The Graduate by Hilton Hotel, also located on the UMN campus. We have a limited supply of these rooms, so you will want to book early if you would like this option.

Getting Around

1. From the Airport:

The closest major airport is Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport (MSP).

Metro Transit
You can get on the Metro Blue Line at either of the two terminals at the MSP airport. Trains leave roughly every 15 minutes. The ride to campus will take about 50 minutes. To get to Coffman Memorial Union, you can ride to Government Plaza, transfer to the Green Line, and ride back a short way to the East Bank stop, which is a 5 minute walk from Coffman. The Metro runs from about 4:30am to 1:00am. For more information, see https://www.metrotransit.org/airport

Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)
An Uber or Lyft from MSP to Coffman Memorial Union will cost about $40-$50 depending on the time of day and the drive will take about 30 minutes.

2. Getting Around Campus

Walking
The main artery of campus, Washington Ave, runs right in front of Coffman. A fifteen minute walk East will take you past much of campus to several casual restaurants, and a fifteen minute walk West will take you over the top of the Washington bridge (the top level is pedestrian and bikes only) to the West Bank, with some more university buildings and restaurants.

UMN Buses (Free)
Metro Transit bus lines run through campus, but there are also UMN-specific buses, which are UMN colors, maroon and gold. These buses are free and don’t require any pass. Many of these buses stop right in front of Coffman.
For more information, see https://pts.umn.edu/transit/campus

Lime Bikes and Scooters
Lime electric bikes and scooters are available around campus and the city. Download the Lime app and follow the instructions to find one and start riding.

3. Getting Around the City

Metro Transit (Train and Bus)
To use Metro Transit, including the train and buses, download the Metro Transit app (you can also use exact change or pick up a Go To card): https://www.metrotransit.org/app

Trip Planner inside the Metro Transit App or Google Maps are the easiest way to find the route that you need. The Green Line crosses campus on Washington Ave. The closest stop to Coffman is East Bank, about a five-minute walk to the East. The Green Line runs East-West from downtown Minneapolis all the way to Saint Paul. The Blue Line runs North-South across Minneapolis. It meets with the Green Line at U.S. Bank Stadium and can take you all the way to the Mall of America.

Metro Bus
Similar to the Metro trains, the best way to find your route is in the Metro Transit App or on Google Maps. It takes roughly 30 minutes to get from Coffman to downtown Minneapolis on a bus, or 45+ minutes (and a transfer or two) to get to further neighborhoods, like Uptown.

Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)
An Uber or Lyft from Coffman Memorial Union to downtown Minneapolis takes approximately 15 minutes and costs anywhere from $20-$40 depending on demand, wait time is typically under 5 minutes.
